Home Theatre Room

 Home Theatre Installation

We are one of Scotland’s experts in Home Theatre installation and this is one of our most recent projects.

The brief was simple, turn a room which had a full size snooker table in it from a relatively unused games room, into a games room which incorporated home cinema.

In our first consultation with the client it became evident that the snooker table was used rarely and when we discussed options and ideas a more appealing method was to remove the snooker table and dedicate the room to being a full home theatre.

We also planned some custom built cinema seating, however with the use of this room being comfort driven and as a hub for the whole family we quickly realised that a more comfortable sofa option was the best way forward.

Once we had decided on how we wanted the room to look, we sat down for another consultation to discuss what equipment would work best for the setup and had a discussion regarding colours and design of wall coverings and window blinds to create a comfortable home cinema environment.

Equipment wise we decided on a Sony VPL-VW300 4K 3D projector ceiling mounted towards the rear of the room, coupled with a Sony 4K 3D Bluray player. Providing the sound we used a Sony 7-1 surround amplifier and five rectangular in-wall Sonance speakers for the two front, centre and two rear speakers, plus a pair of round Sonance speakers in the ceiling for the extra channels in 7-1 system. This system was designed to work with an already existing Sky HD box.

As the room was going to be a pure Home Theatre experience we avoided motorised screens and chose the Grandview fixed 9ft wide screen, with the front speakers mounted around the system.

The wall coverings at the front are a dark slate wallpaper to emphasis the picture on screen and the room walls and ceilings are painted in a light grey. The carpet and coving are highlighted in a deep red finish as a ‘nod’ to cinema decor.

The lighting and black out blinds (on six thin side windows) are all controlled by the client to create the perfect ambiance.

The system was installed in time for a family Christmas, and we tested the setup with the clients favourite Eagles Blu-ray. We enjoy making sure the setup is correct for the client.
